I have this Model Aspire 5 A515-51G-58GJ. Part no: UN.GT1SI.005. It has one M.2 port in which there is one 128GB sata ssd (WDC WDS120G2G0B) installed. it has intel i5 8250u CPU with NVIDIA getForce MX150 CPU. i need to install NVMe (500GB) to get more speed & Storage. Please anyone tell me, it does support or not? Does its speed only limited upto 1800 Mbps due motherboard lane limitation or I can i get more speed upto 3400mbps. i searched everywhere. I read more than 100 articles in this community but im confused now. Plz confirm me.

Your Aspire A515-51G has an interface for the M.2 SSD drive of a PCIe 3x4 and the quickest drives are the WD SN750 or the Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe which I suggest that and since your laptop only has provisions for a 1x M.2 SSD drive install a bigger 1TB PCIe3x4 drive, speeds for a fast PCIe3x4 like the WD SN750 or the Samsung 970 EVO Plus run at typical 3500MB/s read/write speeds. The 500GB NVMe drive is perfect and will work 100% with the A515-51G laptop.

Earlier I thought to buy WD Blue SN570 NVMe 500GB but now I'm ordering Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe. My laptop has one wd HDD of 1TB too. but it is too slow nowadays. I use it for data storage only. it also has 2 bad sectors, now it is too old. It may fail in couple of months. Thanks again.

Just want to explain to you how these M.2SSDs and SATA drives work in these laptops. The WD SN570 that you wanted to buy, is a mid-range WD M.2 SSD that performs in the range of 2500MB/s read/write speeds max, actually Acer fits these sorts and type of even lower spec drives oem to their PCIe3x4 Nitro laptops like mine the AN515-56 that came oem with the WD SN530 512GB drive that in my laptops boot slot operated at 2600MB/s speeds max.

The AN515-56 has 2x M.2 SSD drive slots, the boot slot of my laptop can operate at full PCIe3x4 at 3550MB/s read/write speeds but the second M.2 SSD slot of my laptop with sort of the same drive the WD SN730 PCIe3x4 M.2 SSD is way slower at 1760MB/s read/write while this same WD SN730 drive in the boot M.2 SSD slot runs at 3400MB/s read/write, so these 2x M.2 SSD slots in my AN515-56 don't run at the same speeds simultaneously .

As your laptop has only 1x M.2 SSD PCIe3x4 boot slot that will run at speeds of 3500MB/s read/write max, you should upgrade to the quickest M.2 SSD PCIe3x4 drives like either the Samsung 970 EVO Plus or the WD SN750 Black, as the SATA 2.5" slots even with a 2.5" SSD drive will not operate higher than 600MB/s read/write, as your 1x M.2 SSD PCIe3x4 slot is what you should be using for your boot drive with a quick M.2 SSD and use the SATA 2.5" slot drive only for a slave/backup drive.
