Mysterious Problem with my Acer Aspire A515-54

I've asked so many people and nobody has any clue what is going on with my laptop nor how to fix it. Have a crack at it. I hope someone here can help me.

I plug in my brand new gaming headset into the headphone jack. There's no "new device connected" notification or anything. It doesn't exist as a connected

device in the tray at all so it's like nothing happened and I never plugged anything in as far as the laptop knows.

That said, I can hear sound through the headphones. BUT the computer will NOT allow the mic to work. As I said, as far as the computer, the headset doesn't

even exist. It is not showing up as a connected device, therefore there is no option to choose its mic as default input/output/anyput lol

I'm seriously going bonkers trying to figure this out. I've made sure all drivers are updated. According to every diagnostic tool known to man, everything within

the laptop is functioning properly. Yet whether I use my bluetooth headset or my wired gaming headset, it will allow sound to come through the earpieces but

it will not allow the mic to work in either instance, and gives no option to select a new mic/input/source for voice/audio, because it doesn't think anything is

connected. It's a complete and total mystery and I'm growing more and more annoyed with each passing day lol because the mic on the laptop is awful. It sounds

staticky and tinny (no offense, Acer).

There are some solved threads on headset issues on this forum check thos too.

Here is my take: I have exactly the same (2019) laptop with Realtek speakers and RTK Audio Console controller. Windows10-11 controls the RCA 3.5mm phone jack on your laptop, not RTK, when you insert the correct 3.5mm plug of your headset you should get Windows Sound prompt with 3 options "What are you connecting" External Speakers, Headset or Earphones."

You have to select Headset in Windows and again confirm that in your RTK Audio Console (same 3 options).

Type of plug is important, the wrong plug can even shutdown your laptop if unplugging from the phone jack:

Try another wired headset if yours is not working.

On the BT sound issue, nothing to do with Realtek but Intel's network adapter, Intel BT driver (mine is end 2022 version 22.160.0.4) and Windows BT settings. You need to pair it properly and make sure the Headset firmware is compatible (BT 5.1)

You will see the Headset firmware listed in Device Manager (Hidden devices), check for driver updates (see at the bottom ny headset)

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/bluetooth/general-bluetooth-support-in-windows

Finally after you checked the above and still cannot get your headset to work (never worked before?) you need to uninstall your RTK sound and Intel BT drivers and let Windows 11? reinstall the latest drivers again.
