IMMEDIATELY remove laptop from cloth and soft surface!!! You risk heat damage by impeding airflow on the bottom vents.

You must raise laptop about an inch above a hard surface to promote better airflow so it doesn't overheat. Do NOT block bottom or side airvents.

As suggested above probably overheating, could be some other issues as well, you don't mention what Aspire 5 model like a515-54G or something like that, how old is your laptop, have you ever cleaned the fan (inside the laptop) and what do you have connected to that USB 3.01 port showing on the screen shot, looks like an external HDD drive? If you disconnect that USB device do you still have the freeze/BSOD problem? To clean the fan browse threads on this forum how to do that for your model, here is the method I used for my 4 year old Aspire5 a515-54G: Remove the back of your laptop and disconnect the battery cable from the motherboard, remove the 3 screws of the fan (your model may have 2 fans), disconnect the fan motor cable from the motherboard and clean the dust trap (grill) in front of the heatsink(s), in my case after 3 years it had accumulated a thick "carpet" of lint and dust that I had to peel off. Use a soft bush and blow ball (to clean keyboards) to clean the fan impellers DO NOT USE LIQUIDS OR OIL as this will ruin the fan and avoid using strong vacuum cleaners.

If you notice high pitch sounds coming from the fan(s) on high speed (when starting up) and your laptop is more than 3 years old, replace the fan ($15).
