Its been 3 months I bought this laptop. up until now it was running pretty well, but recently I started facing some heating issues. The idle temperature would go upto 65 degree and when I use some applications or play some game like valorant the temperature generally hits 90 degree, even after incerasing my fan speed to max the temperature is around 80-85 degree. I am facing this issue from 1-2 weeks recently. I would like some help regaridng this. Can someone help me fix the issue I am facing?

    Hello!!

    @Lucifer57

irstly, CPU/GPU fans are made to dissipate heat from your Acer Nitro 5 CPU/GPU laptop and to reduce heat. You can repaste your, CPU/GPU with “Thermal Grizzly Hydronaut thermal conductive paste” by using the ‘pea method’ (as some laptops are not pasted properly) or get a tablet cooler but, a laptop like the Acer Nitro 5 will always increase in temperature(s) the harder you push it and are designed to reach temps of 90c, hence and that is why fan rpm increases which is normal and essential to keeping your CPU/GPU cool.

Don’t worry about the fans increasing in rpm as that is part of the design as an increase in rpm is not as drastic as a decrease or your fans not responding to heat rise at all and only running at 2000rpm. And as 'andylb' said in one of those posts "It takes a while for the fan speed to come down to the current temperature as it not only cools the CPU but also senses the heat in surrounding surfaces and idle fluctuates. Remember gaming laptops are not like an average laptop, they have high performance hardware producing heat, packed into a small space so the fans run faster than a regular laptop"

At CPU Temperature 95c the fan speeds should be: Fan 1 Speed 4000rpm Fan 2 Speed 3200rpm SPL Spec (dBA) 43. The limits of the AN517-52 are as follows; PROCHOT at 98°C - OS shut down at 100°C - H/W shut down at PH1=85°C. This is the SG manuals quoted specs.

I understand you say " I am facing this issue from 1-2 weeks recently. "

Sometimes a simple system restore will fix the issue..

    Try windows x
click on power shell admin or command prompt admin
    type rstrui
chose an earlier date on which your computer was working fine
    click on next, finish, yes
It will restore your computer to an earlier date
if you get an message - system restore not completed - click on close
It will show you all the icons..
Try and check whether it is working now ..

Try to use cool pad and check. It will help you to decrease the temperature.

First of all we need to determine whether it is a hardware or software issue.

If it is still not working then we have to do a refresh and reset

click on start - settings - update and security - recovery - reset this pc - get started

    or

on start - type here to search - type reset this pc - click on reset this pc on the top  - click on get started

It will show you keep my files and remove everything
    chose keep my files
chose the account - type the password - click on local reinstall - click on reset
    It will be in progress..
login to computer and start using the computer.
If it is still not working

click on start - settings - update and security - recovery - reset this pc - get started
    chose remove everything
click on local reinstall - just remove my files - click on reset
    It will be in progress

    Note:

If you do refresh ( keep my files ) -  all your personal files like pictures, music , documents , videos  will still be intact.   Only the applications will be lost

If you do reset  ( remove everything )  - you are doing a factory default.   It will become like a day one computer.    It will wipe out everything and take your computer to day one like a new computer.

You can also do the recovery in an alternative way..

There are two alt keys on the keyboard.  If you look at the bottom row of keyboard you can see the one on the left side of space bar and the other on the right side of space bar.  The alt key on the right side will be looking like alt, alt gr or alt car.  Turn off the computer.  Hold the alt key on the left and tap f10 continuously.   It will go to repair mode. It will show you chose an option, continue, troubleshoot.   If it is not going to repair mode, turn off the computer.  Turn on the computer.  Hold the right alt key ( alt gr or alt car or alt )  and then tap f10 continuously.  It will go to chose an option continue and troubleshoot..

It will show you chose an option, continue, troubleshoot
Go to troubleshoot  -  click on reset this pc
click on keep my files  ( only applications will be lost )   chose your account and type your password   - click on local reinstall  - click on reset
    It will be in progress

If the keep my files option is not working

Go to troubleshoot  -  click on reset this pc – click on remove everything – click on local reinstall – just remove my files – click on reset
    It will reinstall windows.

If the just remove my files is not working..

Go to troubleshoot  -  click on reset this pc – click on remove everything – click on local reinstall – Fully clean the drive – click on reset
    It will reinstall windows.

Note: You can also go to chose an option , continue , troubleshoot by holding the alt key + tapping f10  or alt gr + tapping f10 on the keyboard while turning on the computer.    Once you see the troubleshoot option, you can stop tapping the f10 and stop holding the alt key.    Then you can try the keep my files and remove everything ( just remove by files and fully clean the drive ) by following the steps which was mentioned above.

Even after reinstalling windows if you are facing the same issue then it might be a hardware issue.

Make sure there are no intake ventilation obstructions like pillows or a thick table carpet under the laptop, keep the laptop raised a bit and away from other devices, books or table items to improve the airflow around and under your laptop. Don't use the High Performance Power plan but use Balanced Power Plan. Next time you have a reason to open your laptop for a RAM/SSD upgrade, clean the fan(s), specially the grill in front of the heatsink(s) that can accumulate thick layer of dust and lint blocking the airflow to the heatsink(s) You need to remove the fan to get to this "dust trap". Always disconnect the battery cable from the motherboard before doing anything inside the laptop.

Got a fiery Acer Nitro 5 Don't sweat it (literally) and if you ask this to anyone else thel tell you to clean air went and repasting thats not gonna fix ith Here's how to chill that beast:

    1. Search for "Power & sleep settings" in Start.
    2. See a "High performance" option? Click it! Might be all you need.
    3. Secret Power Moves (for hidden options):
      • Open Command Prompt as admin (search for it in Start, right-click, "Run as administrator").
      • powercfg -duplicatescheme 8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c
      • powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61
    4. Bonus Tip: Cooler When Idle:
      • Open Control Panel (search for it in Start).
      • Go to "Power Options" > "Change plan settings" for your active plan.
      • Click "Change advanced power settings".
      • Find "Maximum processor state" under "Processor power management".
      • Set both "Plugged in" and "On battery" to 99% to keep your CPU from working overtime when chilling.
      • While you're there, set "Minimum processor state" to 0%.

This might drain your battery a bit faster, but hey, for peak gaming, it's worth it!
