Hi, I have the problem when you hit a key, sometimes it isn't registered. I have a reason to believe the problem is not necessarily hairs that get stuck on the bottom. Some time ago I had a different issue that sometimes the computer was self induced into the numlock mode. So every now and the I had to disable it (fn+f12).

I didn't even bother to search a sulotion. This problem wasn't reoccurred for sometime, but now I have the problem of missing hits. Probably some Win11 update was responsible for that. The problem happens sometimes and only in buttons that have a function operation that they carry. It happens mostly on computer startup in the welcome screen when password is needed (this computer have fingerprint sensor but it works awful. Someone just advised me to register the same finger a couple of times. I wonder).

So it doesn't look like a hardware problem. I tried to completely delete my computer and install everything anew, but the problem persisted.

Please, any help would be appreciated.

Democracy for all

Most often those types of glitches are caused by physical issues with the keyboard, so dirty or stuck keys. Sometimes it can be seen with issues with the cable running between the keyboard and motherboard, but those are usually more consistent, i.e., the key always fails.

My guess is dirt accumulated under some keys, unless many keys have this problem. Also you may feel that the travel/response of these problem keys is poor. Although a recent model laptop, dirt can get under the keys if used actively >16 hrs./day (also when snacking). When this happens with my Aspire5 15" I break a bamboo tooth pick in two and peal one end off so the other half has a paper thin but firm blade left. I wiggle this "blade" carefully under the keys to remove any dirt while toggling the key to improve the travel/response. This works for me😉

  • Is your model SF514-52T or SF514-53T? KBC stands for KEYBOARD BATTERY CONTROLLER. This IC controls the touchpad and keyboard:
