Hello. I have a problem with my nitro 5. Sometimes it won't turn on the first time and I have to press the power button a second time. Does this indicate some kind of malfunction?

Hopefully not the beginning of these startup failures posted on this forum, due to static buildup on the MOBO, it might be that the key contact is eroded or dirt has accumulated onder the key making a bad contact. To clean a dirty or sticky key I always use a bamboo toothpick (don't use fluids) that I break and then pull off one half so I end up with a very thin stripped end, the thickness of paper, With that paper thin end I wiggle carefully under the problem key edges to remove any dirt (be thorough and patient). A thin long paint brush will also work but may leave trapped hairs behind. Be careful not to pull the key up too much. If the starting problem continues or gets worse disconnect the battery cable from the MOBO and depress (jam) the power button 2-3 minutes continuous to discharge any statics. after that you can now better clean the power button (dont use fluids) this time by toggling/tapping the power button many times to check/improve the key travel and if you get a positive feel (should not feel like a "lame switch"). Connect the battery cable back to the MOBO, close the back and see if you can start now in one go. If problems continue and you suspect the power key is getting bad bring the laptop to Acer Service for checking.
