Currently (no pun) the AC adapter isn't charging the battery or powering my laptop. I've had the 230w adapter checked out at a local computer store with a multimeter and they said it was good. Therefore the issue appears to be with the power port on the laptop. I'm working with support to get this resolved under warranty. In the meantime I would like to charge the battery somehow and get a few hours of use a day with it while waiting. What would happen if I were to connect say, an ipad pro or a nintendo switch charger to the PT516-52s via USB-C? Would the battery charge up if the laptop was powered off? I'm too chicken to try it without guidance first. Wondering if anyone has tried this and if it worked or not.

Your laptop has a charging problem and no matter what charger you use the laptop will not charge. The charging problems are internal in your laptops power/charring circuitry stages that needs an experienced tech to analyse or in Acer’s case they will replace the motherboard.

The problems that you are having could be from many issues and could also be from the laptops Super IO or BIOS chips that are corrupted that in the Super IO chip needs replacing or in the BIOS chips case, it needs reprogramming. You can attempt to use those other USB-c adaptors but they will not work, as if your oem charger doesn’t work those other charge will not work.
