These efforts allow me to again compute using my two-year-old

Acer 713 Chromebook Spin for 30-45 mins. Then the Chromebook shows the same notification screen telling me I need to recover Chrome OS. I've done this several times all with the same result.

    Which model do you have? If it's a Chromebook Spin your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like CP713-xxx-xxxx.

    Hello!!

    @GerRegan

    There are a few steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:

    1.Power off your laptop completely by pressing and holding the power button until it turns off.

    2.Press the power button again to turn on your laptop.

    3.When you see the message "Chrome OS is missing or damaged", press Ctrl+D on your keyboard.

    4.Follow the prompts to re-enable developer mode and reinstall Chrome OS.

    Note that this process will wipe all data from your laptop, so be sure to backup any important files beforehand if possible.

    If this process does not work, you may need to create a recovery USB drive using another computer and use it to reinstall Chrome OS on your laptop.
