I am trying to update my acer aspire e14 e5-473-32wk bios (A4WAB113). But after I double click it, my laptop freezes. only works after shutting down by pressing power button or removing power cable.

Note:

  1. batter does not charges but it shows 255% available (plugged in).
  2. I have tried to open platform file from appdata, but it shows nothing.

What should I do?

    Hi @Arfanul

If you cannot start Windows use your USB recovery drive to boot and go to Troubleshooting>Advanced>restart in Safe Mode F4 or 4. If you don't have a USB Recovery flash drive, force a shutdown 4 times with the Power Button, a Blue screen will pop up with "Repair Mode", don't repair but go to the next screen "Restart">Safe Mode F4 or 4 and restore your system to an earlier date by typing: rstrui.exe in the Command Prompt and select a date before you had these issues.

1.13 is the latest BIOS version (2016/05/10) according to Acer Support, don't update BIOS from other websites.

Update the BIOS/Firmware by clicking on that device in Device Manager and select update, or download the BIOS from Acer Support and right-click on the file name and select Extract All. Double-click the file application file that was extracted to begin the install. Follow the instructions on the screen to install the BIOS. Make sure you have an AC adapter connected.

Open Control Panel > File Explorer Options. Select View > Show hidden files, folders and drives > Apply > OK. Go to C:\users\yourname, where "yourname" is your Windows profile ID, to see the files in the App Data folder. Don't move or delete files from the AppData folder; doing so will corrupt the linked program.

You have issues with your battery, if you can start Windows8-10 create a battery report by typing or pasting the following line in the Command Prompt: powercfg /batteryreport /output %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\battery_report.html

Double click on the file "battery_report.html" and see what is the Full Charged Capacity, if that is close to zero your battery is dead and you need to replace it ($40)

If you still cannot start/run Windows8-10 bring your laptop to a computer repair shop to reinstall BIOS and Windows.

    Hello!!

    @Arfanul

as there has been a change of battery (model), 10 hasn't recognised there's been a change since first install and it misreports.  This might be worth a shot:

Step 1: Click the Windows “Start” button and type "device manager".  Then press enter when it is listed.

Step 2: Click the “Batteries” section. A list of devices will appear.

Step 3: Right-click the “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery” device and click “Uninstall.”

Step 4: Click the “Action” menu item and “Scan for Hardware Changes” to reinstall the driver, wait for it to complete (won't take long).

    Restart the computer.
