Predator PO7-650: back USB ports 0x800701b1 error

Predator PO7-650:When using my external hard drive (WD 5 TB My Passport HDD USB 3.0) connected to the back USB ports on the machine (1 USB 2.0 Ports left and 6 USB 3.2 Gen2x1 Type A Port) I encounter the error 0x800701b1 frequently when copying over a large number of documents (300gb). I have repeated this a good number of times. However I do not encounter this problem in the front USB ports.
The machine is just new this week. Could you please advise a solution or a cause. Do I need to return the machine if it is faulty?"

I have ran a virus scan, also just recently changed turned off Windows USB Selective suspend.

I did a full reset. Same issues. My pc is back to bring fully up-to-date. Issue continues.

My 5tb external drive that is plug and play, seems to be losing power and then comes back on again. When using the back USB 3.2 gen 2 connection. Although it works fine on the front USB 3.1 connections. Other smaller drives 2tb and 4tb seem to be fine on both.

Thanks for any help.

    Hello!!

    @Storm248

Press and hold (or right-click) the USB external hard drive with the issue, and select Uninstall. After the hard drive is uninstalled, unplug the USB cable. Wait for 1 minute and then reconnect the USB cable. The driver should automatically load.

One of the simplest but effective fixes against the Error 0x800701b1 is to use a different USB port to connect the device you are facing the error with. You could simply try to connect to the more recent USB 3.0 port instead of the old version which only delivers USB 2.0 connectivity.

    1. Connect Your Device to Another PC or Use Another USB Port.
    2. Update or Reinstall the Driver to Fix Error 0x800701b1 on Windows.
    3. Fix Error 0x800701b1 by Rescanning Disks in Disk Management.
    4. Perform a Disk Scan on the Involved Drives on Computer.

    Thanks for the reply.

I have tried some of those suggestions.

I guess my main question/concern is, are the back USB ports that are most likely connected to the motherboard have enough power/voltage to provide consistent output to my portable 5tb external hard drive?

Could that be causing the 0x800701b1? Or are the USB ports faulty?

Thus it explains why my 5tb drive has no issues with the front USB ports of the pc.

    Thanks

They should have enough power. Spec calls for USB 3.0 ports to provide 900mA (5V at 4.5W) to devices, USB 2.0 only 500mA (5V at 2.5W). If your 5TB drive is an older one it might require more power in which case you would want to give it external power. USB-C spec provides higher power (1.5A, so 7.5W) so if your drive is USB-C native and you are using an converter to USB-A you may need to provide external power.
