Nitro 5 Problems partitioning C: to a suitable size

My Nitro 5 has a 2TB hard drive. I would like to shrink the C: to use it for the OS and related files, so I'd like to make it 256GB and have the rest as a "Data" drive (with label D:). When I try to shrink C to the proper size, it won't do it. The smallest it will make the drive is about 1TB. There is about 74GB of data on the drive. This is a brand new Nitro 5. I'm factory resetting now, just to be sure that won't actually fix it. But does anyone have any pointers on getting the partition to the size I want? I'd like to avoid making the other partition the small one and cloning the current C: on to it.

Thanks.
