I have an Aspire 5 A515-51-563W Laptop and would like to create a dual monitor setup to a new LG UHD Monitor. the Monitor works when connected directly to my laptop via HD but my Webcam and audio microphone also must connect to my laptop. My goal is to remove wires connected to my laptop so i can take it on the go. I purchased a USB C Multiport hub but when i connect it to my Laptop USB-C then connect the monitor HDMI cord to the hub, the monitor doesn't recognize my laptop.

Is this because my laptop has “USB 3.1” and this doesn't support this sort of connection? Does anyone have any other ideas how i can connet my monitor and other devices to a hub instead of direclty into my laptop ?

Thank you!!!!

This hub is not compatible with your Aspire A515-51-563W laptop, that is why it dosent work, this hub lists that in the Amazon specs of its “Incompatible Devices (Not Full List)” take note of NOT FULL LIST aas the list is only of a few of the Aspire models like: Acer Aspire A717-72G,Acer Aspire A515-44-R1DM, Acer Aspire a515-54 model, Acer Aspire E15, Acer chromebook model CB515-1HT-C2AE are not compatible even if your A515-51 is not listed as its also not compatible.

Cahnge the hub to a hub that is compatible with your A515-51-563W laptp , your laptop has the following HDMI and USB specs:

    1. HDMI 1,4b Compliance level and Data thoroughput: 16Gbps
    2. USB Version (Speed): USB 3.1 Gen1 (5 Gbps) - Max. output currents of 5V power bus: 3.0 A
    3. NO SUPPORT for Power-Off USB charger Mode - Thunderbolt Version (Speed) - DisplayPort Version - Power Delivery for Charging

Note of this hub about its High Definition 4K Dual Displays and Triple Monitors Output:

This docking station dual monitor support mirror or expand videos to external three or dual display. While single use HDMI 1max up to 4K@60Hz, single use HDMI 2 up to 4K@30Hz(DP1.4 source). When connect to 2 HDMI ports simultaneously, resolution will be 4K@30Hz and 2K@60Hz (DP1.4). Display output will be 1080P when dual monitors or triple displays with VGA.

Note:MacBook laptop only support mirror display(same image on external monitors)
