There doesn't seem to be a way to check PCH temp on my machine. I've checked with HWiNFO64, AIDA64 and BIOS, but PCH temp doesn't show up. I've read these chips can get really hot. There is no PCH heatsink on Acer Nitro N50-640-ER12 motherboards, but there are screw holes for a heatsink:

but on the older Nitro N50-610, there is a heatsink:

Can I put one of these South/North Bridge heatinks over my PCH?

Yes, that is a very good idea as that will help in the performance of this desktop, as these components needs cooling, also if you really want to game this Nitro N50-640 change the cpu cooler with a Noctua cooler, measure the clearance spaces and see if the Noctua NH-U9S chromax.black cpu cooler will fit as upgrading to this cpu cooler will reduce your overall and gaming temps considerably

Thanks, I'm gonna do a case swap, and will replace the stock cpu cooler.

Do I need to add a dab of thermal paste when I put the PCH heatsink on? like this?
