Hi,
Model: 300 PH317-53-70T
I'm hoping to upgrade to 2x16GB Kingston Fury Impact. Are the ones linked compatible? I don't know if the XMP will be a problem.
If so, which one would be recommended? I would've thought the CL15 dual rank, but it's cheaper than the CL16 single rank.
If not, then I'll get a Crucial with ~CL19.
Kind Regards
FAQ & Answers
DO NOT use the Fury CL16 or CL15 type RAM or anything with XMP features or overclocking, as it will not run at 3200MHz speed and will run slower or if you use the Fury DDR4-2666Mhz it will also run at a slower speed!
Always use the DDR4-3200Mhz CL22 type RAM ONLY for this laptop, as that will run at 3200MHz in dual channel, the perfect ram for your laptop is the Crucial 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3200 SODIMM - DDR4-3200 • CL=22 • NON-ECC • SODIMM • 260-pin • 1.2V • 2Rx8/1Rx8 • PC4-25600 spec ram as its the appropriate ram for your laptop and this laptops max capacity is 32GB total at 2x 16GB DDR4-3200Mhz type ram.
Thank you for answering.
I'm having trouble understanding XMP features and RAM overclocking. Would the 2666Mhz be slower because it isn't stock 2666Mhz? As in it needs to overclock to reach that speed?
I thought my CPU (intel core i7 9750h) could only take 2666Mhz, you're saying my model can definitely take 3200Mhz?
My current RAM is 8GB 2666Mhz CL19, would the Crucial, having higher latency but also higher Mhz, work out to be faster?
Yes, your laptop works with DDR4-3200Mhz CL22 ram, buy the Crucial RAM as Crucial guarantees their scans and recommendations. Your laptop hasn’t got any settings for XMP ram in the bios or overclocking of ram in the bios and Acer does not recommend XMP ram for that reason. If you fit XMP ram it may or may not will work, and it it works an XMP DDR4-2666MHz will run at DDR4-2400MHz and an XMP DDR4-3200Mhz will run at DDR4-2933Mhz which is the next lower speeds.
Just triple checking 3200Mhz will run at full speed, as the specs for my CPU show 2666Mhz. What am I missing?

What about the PnP feature, which uses a default JEDEC at 3200Mhz:
