I have a Predator with a G3-710 motherboard and GTX 950 graphics card. When playing multiplayer online role playing games it now gets really “laggy” when there are lots of players on screen. Will this board accept the newer cards or am I better retiring this PC and upgrading everything to one of the newer Predator machines?

If it was mine, I might replace the mechanical drive with an 3.5" SSD or SSD card while I was at it. One TB SSDs are about the best deals on the planet right now at well under $100usd. They can really wake up apps, games and programs that rely a lot of read/write operations to bulk storage.

Depends on your power supply. This model came with 300, 500 & or a 730 watt PSU. What does your's have? The bigger, the better GPU choices that you have. Also, how much RAM do you have? 64GB of dual channel DIMMs can also make a big difference.

thank you, JackE, for your very swift response. 500 watt PSU - but only 8GB RAM - I can add to the RAM.

Could lack of RAM be causing my lag or would you advise more RAM and a new GPU? (if yes, what would you suggest?)

If it was mine, I'd probably first go for 16GB RAM. The 950 isn't too shabby and multiplayer performance may depend just as much or even more on fast storage and retrieval. Speaking of which, do you have a mechanical drive or an SSD?

found some used RAM and upped my 8GB to 16 and the difference is astonishing; I was also looking at your suggestion of an SSD but with the improvement just by adding RAM I will wait.

Thanks for reporting back on the RAM improvement. The SSD will mainly reduce times to boot & load programs into RAM & disk-intensive video apps & games that are constantly reading & writing between RAM & disk. 🙂

i went from 2x8 factory to 4x16 crucial and wow what a difference so i would suggest maxing out the memory its unreal how much the performance goes up when gaming i went from 80-100 fps where now im averaging almost 200 fps in my games some even more its crazy.

As long as you're in the ordering mood, might as well throw in an SSD while you're at. 🙂

thanks, you made me laugh - keep pushing me - I don't need much persuasion :)

I did see that there is a Predator SSD and thought that may be a good option.

The 2.5" 1TB Western Digital blue series SSD is one of the best deals on the planet right now. Less than $60usd. ☺️
