Acer 515-54 Battery starts and stops charging

Hello everyone!

I noticed that my battery would start and stop charging. Time between this “see-saw” varies from a couple of times withn a second to 7-8 seconds per switch. The less the battery is, the more often this switch happens.

Model Acer 515-54-51DJ on Windows 10.

The symptoms that you are getting is because the charger/adaptors plug has a broken wire within its cord that connects the chargers plug, this is a common fault, try to wiggle the charger wire before the plug when its plugged into the laptops DC port and the same should happen or get another charger and plug it into your laptop and see if the charger always charges, otherwise its either the laptops side DC port that is faulty or its an internal power/charging circuitry fault that needs an experienced tech to analyse and fix, as you need special tools to do this.

I have the same model (but with a “G”) that I got end 2019 and yesterday my power adapter failed after 3.5 years (same symptoms you described). Bought a new one on the web (Lazada) for $8😉.

I also replaced my battery last year (had a dead cell), you can check the Battery status running the following command in the Command Prompt (opened as Administrator):

powercfg /batteryreport /output %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\battery_report.html

The file will be on your desktop, just double click on it.
