I just bought my first desktop and I was wondering why my cpu could be overheating I dont really play anything other than valorant and cod. The case only has space for 4 fans and I don't know what to do to try and keep it cooler. It keeps going up to 90 while I am playing and I am scared something will break. Any tips?

Hi, if the PC is quite old then you should repaste the CPU, next you may want to go for better cooling depending on what model you have. Alot of 5000 series opt for a tower air cooler, I have a 240mm all in one ( aio) liquid cooler on my 7000 series, it originally came with a 120mm liquid cooler and the CPU was hitting 90+ degrees, now it hits around 55-60 degrees while 4k gaming in ultra and raytracing at high frame rates - graphics settings, and resolution do affect CPU and GPU temps , GPU more so but dialing them down is a compromise to get lower temps.

Might be an good idea to write your pc model and we can explore further solutions.

You haven't told us what PC you have. Your model number should be on the same sticker as your serial number. Assuming you have a Predator Orion, the number will be something like POx-xxx-xxxx. 90C during gaming isn't out of line, maybe five or ten degrees high for a stock system. What temperatures do you see when not gaming?

I got my PO5-640-EB11 and the stock CPU cooling solution is really bad unfortunately. I replaced it with a simple and almost cheap tower cooler (Deep Cool AK400) and it lowerd my CPU temp from 100C in gaming to 63C! It is the differnce between night and day!

that and also in predator sense put the fans in gaming mode that will help some and replace the cooler with one of your choice, most of us have done cooler upgrades its pretty easy and helps alot !!!!!! if you can put 2 exhaust fans up top it helps also, besides that lower your games graphics settings for now that also helps alot and use a lower resolution, then close everything down by your clock, and any not needed programs starting with your pc use the startup tab in task manager for that, it all ads up and causes heat to the CPU and GPU, spech if your running norton or any heavy intense virus protection like that, i had norton and got rid of it and my temps went down 5 degrees, i was amazed, so i use the built in windows security and microsofts new pc manager program.
