Hi,

Recently I clean formatted my computer (with an installation USB). The camera isn't detected, it gives the 0xA00F4244 error on the camera app. What should I do?

    you're laptop camera is built-in

maybe the camera is blocked by an antivirus software, try to disable temporarily

update the drivers by running Windows Update installing all available listed updates as well as the optional updates from advanced options or you can download and install third party driver updaters like IObit Driver Booster, Driver Easy, Driver Talent, etc. (see in my signature)

    how old is the laptop?

what version of operating system does your laptop have now?

First step is to open Device Manager and check to see if the camera is there as an unknown device, or is in the Camera section but showing an error. Also look for any other unknown devices, since the camera sits on an internal USB port. Next try reinstalling the chipset and serial IO drivers, they are both used when connecting the camera through that internal USB port.

I tried to install the IO and chipset drivers and restarted the laptop afterwards but still the camera app is giving the same error. There is an unknown device in the device manager but I guess it's the wireless chipset (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) because in Nov 2022, suddenly one day my Wi-Fi and Bluetooth isn't working anymore. Even after I formatted the computer and reinstalled the drivers provided on Acer Support. I had to buy a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth USB dongle.

Nope, that unknown device is the camera. The data connection between the camera and the host controller is getting corrupted, so the system can't tell it's a camera. Try reinstalling the drivers for the host controller and removing the unknown device entry, then reboot again.

Still it didn't work. Am I reinstalling the right drivers? Here are the drivers I reinstalled that are listed on Acer Support.

You can reinstall the eXtensible Host Controller by simply uninstalling it from Device Manager, then rebooting. If the driver settings are corrupted that will clear it up. If it's the driver itself then you do mostly the same process, but check the box to say remove files, then reboot and use Windows Update to search for the driver for a reinstall. The top two you did are correct for the Chipset and Serial IO, the ME doesn't need to be done, that's a BIOS level change, not part of Windows.

I did that too. Uninstalled it, rebooted and checked for updates. Downloaded the updates (there was like defender antivirus update, nothing on the optional updates side), rebooted again, and still the camera isn't working.

One thing to note is that there was no "remove files" option on the uninstallation tab.

Yeah, they don't have the remove files option on some system components. Try redoing that hub as well... It's always possible your issue is an actual bad camera, but in most cases this type of error is a Windows issue. I am of the opinion that MS introduced some bugs into the HAL code while getting W10 ready for the W11 release, and haven't yet fixed them. It shows up intermittently on diverse systems and sometimes just fixes itself after a while, sometimes fixes itself with driver reinstalls, sometimes fixes itself with an OS reset and sometimes nothing seems to help. :(
