My laptop screen and frame are broken. Do I need to repair them both?

My Laptop Screen frame is broken near the right side hinge. It was broken for a long time. I didn't repair it because it wasn't a big problem. A few days ago suddenly my laptop screen got broken. Green lines started to appear all over my screen. The text displayed is not clear. Did my screen get broken because of my screen frame? Do I need to repair my laptop screen and frame both or Is repairing the screen only enough?

Probably neither must be repaired. Sounds to me like the LCD video ribbon cable that passes through the hinge area either needs to be re-seated at its end connectors to help clean them or replaced from broken wires in the hinge area. New replacement cables are usually less than about $25usd Google search your full laptop model number (for example E5-475G) & LCD video cable for vendors who ship to your location
