    Yes, how did you create the stick? That might be the issue why it's not being recognized. As to the reset of it, which Chromebook do you have? How big is the drive on it? How old is it? On a system that has an eMMC drive, a drive failure can be a culprit for a OS issue, and those aren't usually cost effective to fix. You would still be able to get into the whole reset procedure though even if the drive were bad.
