well i never gave it any thought and when i bought this acer predator Orion 5000 it came with a free trial of Norton security ultra ....so i ended up trying it out and liking it and buying it for a year at the discounted rate and cancelling my Malwarebytes. now a few days before i installed the noctua nh-u12a i was watching YouTube videos and a lot of builders are telling stories about how much hotter our CPU's run etc. by having one of these big name antivirus programs loaded on our pcs and that they are not needed anymore with the built in windows security doing just as good of a job and then also Microsoft released pc manager to go along with the windows security app so i uninstalled the Norton and played a few games and they all went down by about 3-5 degrees just by doing that i was kind of shocked it impacted our systems that much and i wanted to see if any of you run Norton or something similar and noticed that and or got rid of it like i have and are just sticking with the free Microsoft programs.

Yeah, I pretty much always uninstall the 'free' antivirus packaged with the computer. Windows Defender does a good enough job and is a lot less of a resource hog than any of the third party packages.

I uninstalled my Norton Security Ultra and installed Smadav Pro together with Avast Premium Security

I think PC Manager is just a bundle that integrates a bunch of functions into one user interface, still using the same engines as WD.

yeah, i have it but i close all open programs down by the clock when i game i use task manager startup apps panel to control them to keep temps down etc and i use Norton utilities ultimate to fine tune everything else it's an amazing program.
