I Was in English class today and when I reached in my backpack and my laptop was hot. the only programs I was running at the time was chrome and potentially android studio (for robotics). My laptop was fairly hot and would not turn on. I doubt that this was due to anything the laptop was running, as well as the fact that it was sleeping and was closed.

What is the laptops model number. As and if your laptop is hot when its lid is closed, that means that either the battery is faulty and swelling and overheating (btw that is very dangerous as its a fire hazard) or its your laptops Hall sensor is faculty and not putting your laptop to sleep when the lid is closed. You need to open the laptop and see in what state the battery is in and have the Hall sensor inspected, as this problem is not a software problem but a hardware problem.

always turn off your laptop and let it cool first before putting it back in the backpack to prevent problems.
