You can only upgrade the ram to 12 GB max total as this laptop has 4GB onboard soldered memory and don't use anything else and like overclocked ram as it won't work, this is the best and quickest ram for this laptop which is at 1x 8GB DDR4-3200 • CL=22 • NON-ECC • SODIMM • 260-pin • 1.2V • 2Rx8/1Rx8/1Rx16 • PC4-25600 DIMM 260-pin type ram (do a Crucial System Scan) and then upgrade the mechanical drive to an SSD drive, that will speed this laptop up with Win-10 considerably.

You also need to make sure that all windows updates are up to date, all Intel drivers are up to date (use the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant) and make sure you are running the NVIDIA GeForce 940MX driver the Version:527.56 WHQL so that this laptop performs at its peak performance. Also and lastly make sure that this laptop has the last bios Version:1.10installed as that is also important but be very careful how you upgrade the ram, make sure that all antivirus is turned off, make sure that this laptop is plugged into the mains power and this laptop is not getting BSOD's or blue screens prior to a bios update, as all these factors could disturb the bios update process and brick your laptop if they happen as Acer categorically warns all users the following "Upgrading your system BIOS incorrectly could harm your Acer product. Please proceed with caution" good luck and hope this helps you out
