Acer Predator Orion 3000 PO3-640 cooling upgrade question

Hello everyone, this is my first post. I don't know a great deal about PCs - I bought my son this machine with an i7-12700F processor, 32GB RAM and a 3070 graphics card. It seems like a nice machine but I noticed the CPU idles at 50-65 degrees C and in some games it goes up to 93-100 degrees C even with the fans all cranked up.

Reading here and elsewhere there seems to be the view that the CPU cooling needs upgrading.

Can I therefore check - is this a compatible CPU cooler upgrade? Noctua NH-U9S chromax.black, 92mm Single-Tower CPU Cooler  ? Amazon UK link - Noctua NH-U9S chromax.black, 92mm Single-Tower CPU Cooler (Black) : Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

If it is, may I ask, does the cooler typically come with all the necessary things to install it? Some folks were saying you need to purchase additional screws or some kind of install kit?

Thanks in advance for your help !

I recently bought the same PC and got the same issue. The stock fan is very insufficent

I bought a cheap tower heat sink and the degrees came down 20º

you only have to select a sink that fits. 15cm tall no more (mine is 13,5cmm) and more cooper pipes better (mine have 4)

The other improvement im thinking is buy a second stick of ram.

I guess that any 32GB CL22 3200Mhz must works, buy im not sure ...

Worst case scenario is having to remove the motherboard to install the backplate of the new cooler - it's actually not that hard to do and if you accept it as something you might need to do , it will open up more options as to what kind of cooling solution you can go for.

...and yes, the acer back plate has long threads, and the standar screws dont make enogh pressure between the processor and the sink. I had to add aluminium spacers between the sink and the brackets.

the alternative is disarm al the computer and replace the acer backplate with the new backplate (that it seems could take a lot of time)

The cooler comes with the necessary hardware, however it would require removing the mother board because Acer desktops don't supply an access opening in their proprietary cases. The additional screws are a way of installing it without removing the motherboard, using the existing Acer backplate instead of the one that comes with the cooler.

Actually most people using the Noctua cooler report that they don't need to remove the motherboard, they just need to use the slightly longer screws with the stock backplate. That is one of the biggest reasons so many people recommend those.
