Is there a replacement option if I was sent a faulty monitor?

Yesterday I received a brand new Concept D CP3271U monitor and it arrived faulty. I took it out the packaging, followed the startup instructions to a T and couldn't get any picture.

I did everything tech support suggested and no luck, so the guy suggested I could get a replacement sent over as it was broken the moment it arrived. (The backlight turns no but no picture for those interested).

So I filed a warranty request and was told my only options are a refund (where I will have to pay for transport and shipping), or I get an £80 discount and send it in for repair (which could take months and I'll receive a product that has been tampered with).

Aside from recommended trouble shooting such as trying the monitor in a different device, trying both HDMI and display port etc, the monitor is 100% brand new and has now been returned to its original packaging.

Surely if Acer has sent me a nonworking product, there's an option to get a replacement? I'm a student and really needed that monitor for my work, so I'm aiming for the fastest resolution.

Did you buy it from ACER's on line store? Or some other vendor? Most store's should have an return merchandise authorization (RMA) period of a few weeks to allow you to exchange or get a refund without involving any warranty repairs on the existing unit. However, there may be RMA re-stocking or shipping policy fees from many on line stores or concessionaires. Places like Amazon or Curry's have pretty good RMA policies so it's wise to know what the store''s RMA policies are before committing to the purchase.
