The PH517-51 does not have Win-11 specific drivers from Acer, when you updated to Win-11 version 20H2 OS build 22621.963 that is the latest (which and also you should have done a clean install only and not a windows upgrade) all appropriate Win-11 drivers for the PH517-51 should have been installed. As all the Acer drivers are specifically for Win-10, also audio does not just depend on one driver as there are all the following drivers that determine sound for specific functions and need to be up to date to Win-11 compatible drivers:

    • Intel® Smart Sound Technology for Bluetooth® Audio
    • NVIDIA High-Definition Audio
    • Realtek Audio
    • NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)
    • Intel® Smart Sound Technology for Digital Microphones
    • Intel® Smart Sound Technology for USB Audio

Best is to install the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant and do a scan as this software will update and/or make you aware of all the drivers and audio drivers that need to be updated to Win-11 compatibility. Also go to Device Manager and rollback and/or refresh all the above drivers as that could be a solution also.

DON'T USE intel driver and support assistant for non-intel driver issues. Their realtek audio driver is for intel NUC only, nothing to do with acer computers.

This is realtek audio driver from intel's website, it doesn't contain acer inf file and it won't install correctly.

Install your acer realtek driver, then follow my detailed instruction for Microsoft Update Catalog driver update (use 22h2 as search term now instead of 1903) to get 6.0.9433.1 (9437 is not compatible to acer computers) and also realtek software components. If you have intel sst, then also search it in muc (but it's difficult because they have several parallel series of drivers so it's hard to pick the correct compatible one).

Trust me, I know what I am doing.
