Hi all,

When I turn my Nitro 5 off, the battery drains within 12 hours. I’ve noticed through the case when off that there was a warm spot where the NVME drive was. At first I thought it was an issue relating to a recent Windows 11 upgrade and compatibility- where the device may not be shutting down correctly.

here are the facts

  1. I took the cover off, removed the nvme, the heat is coming from the motherboard near the usb not the nvme. It is so hot that it burns my finger
  2. after removing the nvme (boot drive) I started the laptop and immediately switched it off, there is no windows loading but it still remains searing hot when off
  3. when I disconnect the battery and then reconnect the battery it remains cool. It’s only once the laptop has been turned on and off it remains hot regardless of what you do with the laptop (boot to windows, load bios, run it for 5 seconds etc - it doesn’t matter)
  4. you can feel the heat through the case
  5. Upgraded to Windows 11 recently

the laptop runs fine. I’ve left the battery off.

i believe the above troubleshooting rules out window’s specifically. I am running the latest Bios. How should I proceed? I’ve barely used this laptop. It won’t hold charge.

inner red square is the hottest point, can’t touch it. i can feel heat in the outer square. Still hot after 30 minutes off

with regards to the attached picture. The inner circle is the hottest part. It’s too hot to touch. I can feel heat in the whole red circle area. Like I said if it runs for 5 seconds and even when the laptop is off after 30 minutes it’s still hot.
