Hi Looking for any help and suggestions as I'm completely out of ideas..

Recently (3 days ago) bought a new Predator PO7-640 (12th gen i9-12900K, 32G RAM, RTX 3090)

Pc runs stupidly slow on everything, installations, file transfers, game FPS everything... like CS:GO for example 7 fps slow...

Tried both with windows 11 it did come with and reinstalled later to windows 10 in case there is issue with windows 11..

Bios updated to latest, all windows updates done, all drivers installed. Tried graphics drivers trough GeForce experience, and manually... same results.

Just absolutely out of ideas already, and acer support suggested to book 3 days old pc bought as Christmas present for repairs... With that rate might as well just throw it trough the door back in the shop it was bought from and go with alternative.

Looking for any ideas and suggestions that might help to fix situation in case I'm overlooking something, as I'm definitely not booking a brand new pc for repair and if I cant sort it out my self in time then would just have to return it back and stay away from those forever.

Thanks for any help in advance.

    1. Try reseat the ram sticks make sure they're clicked in properly in the slot closest the 24 pin motherboard connector, then miss the next slot and one in the third slot.
    2. Download HWinfo and check temps on your processor it could be throttling itself due to the aio being incorrectly mounted, if you do need to check the paste under it, you will need to clean off the old paste to repaste it.
    3. reseat the ssd drives
    4. Run diagnostics with the Acer care app
    5. Run a benchmark with User benchmark , pay attention to the individual components for any possible failure

I got the same machine and it's really an amazing one, hopefully you'll get yours sorted, it's rather unfortunate that Acer don't have technicians they can send out like Dell, really you should be able to get a straight up exchange from where you bought it from.

Just additional info and as a further guide to you on your PO7-640 desktop, as you have to make sure that you have all the Win-11 updates up to date and also have updated the OS to its last version 22H2, OS version 22621.963 and also have all windows updates, and all drivers have to be up to date, as that is critical for your desktop to run efficently and to its peak performance.

Also and with this desktop its critical that you make sure that the latest bios dated 2022/08/11 and version R01-A4 is updated, as this bios has allot to do with "System performance enhancement and Enhance system stability" of this desktop, be careful when you update bios and read very carefully the Appendix folder and its Acer provided PDF guide (which and to update bios in windows you need to use the RO1-***** .exe file (which is an application file and can only be executed in windows OS and you should use that only) and not the .CAP RO11-***** file in the ROM folder!

Be warned: as and if you don't know how to update a desktop bios, then get an experienced tech to do this bios update for you, as Acer warns users of the following "Upgrading your system BIOS incorrectly could harm your Acer product. Please proceed with caution" and I take no responsibility if you do it wrongly and brick the desktop! Also, and after all this bios update, make sure that the bios is existed with "Load Default Settings" into the OS so that all settings are at their defaults.

The PO7-640 has great and upper specs and should perform like a hypersonic rocket with what you have as its specs, i9-12900K, 32G RAM, RTX 3090. Install the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant and the latest GeForce Game Ready Driver Version: 527.56 WHQL drivers as doing all this will make sure that your desktop will perform at its peak, also make sure that you have the SSD TRIM command within windows enabled, as its impossible if you do all the above then your desktop will perform poorly for such a high-end desktop that you have. Good luck and hope this helps you out further.

Also, make sure that everything is connected properly as per guides below, and the ram is not faulty and also connected properly, like its specs and its detailed below from the Acer PO7-640s SG:

Hi everyone and thanks for all the suggestions provided, after checking all the connectors and reseating everything i noticed that when i apply a slight pressure with a finger on a cpu water cooler everything seems to start to fly and fps gets good. Tried to remove it, check the paste all seemed good and reseated it back and still same issue that seems to be gone with slight pressure applied… like it does not make enough surface contact? Any suggestions? Should i perhaps remove the paste and reapply slightly more or maybe even use a silicon heatpad instead of paste? Thanks again everyone

Sorry just did more reading on pads and clearly they not good enough and adequate solution for cpus.. so reapply the paste and hope it works?

Try a screwing down screws 1-4 in a cross pattern on the CPU cooler, they may not be tight enough - next steps would be repaste and if that doesn't work, when you remove the AIO pump inspect the stand offs, and make sure they're all coming through the motherboard properly and equally - if not then it's a motherboard out job to reseat the rear AIO back plate , things to take into consideration :-

    1. backplate is held on with double sided tape in the middle part, press it against the board firmly.
    2. save all electrical tape and place back as you found it (just good practice)
    3. use a good screwdiver and don't lose screws.
    4. cut cable ties carefully alot of them are very tightly bunched.
    5. Take pictures with your phone if you're going to struggle to memorize where everything goes.

If that don't work, it would be the current CPU frame is on too tight and causing memory issues -

I use that contact frame for 12th and 13th gen processors - it stops buckling and bending and ensures the AIO cooler is pushing pressure evenly, it will also drop temps.

Last stage is a full AIO upgrade to 240mm, if that's a route you want to look into i could advise further as i've recently sucessfully done this myself.

    Something else to try -

    1. Go into bios and advanced settings
    2. CPU and chipset configuration
    3. Make sure 'Above 4g decoding' and 'Resize Bar' options are on
    4. Active efficient cores set to ALL
    5. PCIE speed if it's set to Auto , set it onto 3.0
    6. Save and Exit
