Acer Nitro 5 isn't charging when plugged in and on (Model N20C2) How did you fix it?

As you can tell from the title, my laptop is currently not charging while the computer is on. Instead, the LED lights for both "charging" and "power on" begin to blink, which I have discovered means that there isn't enough power coming in to power the laptop. What is interesting is that it will charge while the laptop is off, but again, it won't charge while it is turned on. This happened randomly about a week ago, and I have had the laptop for about two years, and the universal charger which I had been using had been working for at least 6 months without problem. I have no clue what caused this issue, and I have tried multiple things in order to try and remedy the situation:

  • Got a new universal charger, to see if it was the charger causing the issue
  • Uninstalled the battery drivers and reinstalled them
  • Removed the battery to see if it would run while plugged in

and nothing has worked so far. I've researched this and I've tried every common solution but it hasn't worked, and I don't know what else I can try. Has anyone else had this issue? How did you fix it? I would appreciate any help.

You should always use a charger with came with your laptop and not a universal charger. So try to get the right charger and check whether it works.

Look at the back of the laptop for a pin hole. put a paper clip in the pin hole and press and hold it for 30 seconds when the unit is powered off.
