Would WD Black SN850X with Heatsink fit in M.2_3 slot in Acer Predator Orion 3000 640?

Hi again all,

Completely lost about what would fit in the vacant ssd slot in my new pc. As it doesn’t appear, from what others have said, that the model comes with pre-installed heatsinks/thermal pads in the ssd slots, I was going to just purchase the 2tb WD Black SN850X with heatsink. But I’m worried it won’t fit. The heatsink on the ssd appears difficult to remove, so I wan’t to make certain it fits before purchasing. Any help you can provide will be much appreciated.

You don't need a heatsink on an SSD M.2 drive on a desktop like the PO3-640 as the M.2 is in an open space and its being cooled by the case front crossflow air that comes from the front fan, just buy the WD NS-850 Black as you don't need a heatsink, also its cheaper.

The WD SN-850X is a PCIe 4 x4 and will work in your PO3-640, see the highlighted M.2 suitable for your desktop below.

Thank you very much. I really appreciate your help. Where I am the Heatsink version is actually the same price (on sale) as the non Heatsink version. As you mentioned the Heatsink version should still fit (having checked dimensions, it’s the same length, only slightly wider and a bit taller) I’ve just gone for that for the extra rgb lighting. Otherwise I just would have gone for the original as you suggested. Thanks again for your detailed answer. Have a great day.
