Max advertised RAM is two 4GB DDR3 1600MHz sodimms for 8GB total. However, some production variations may accept two 8GB DDR3 sodimms for 16GB total but not guaranteed 100%. Got to crucial dot com and run their scanner on your machine to see if it will accept 16GB total.

Press WIN+R. Enter 'msinfo32'. Check your processor in the right pane to see if you have the 2nd or 3rd generation i3-2xxxM or i3-3xxxM CPU dual core. You might be able to upgrade to a faster 2nd or 3rd generation with the same rPGA socket pinout but it is unlikely to make a noticeable speed difference.

The biggest speed increase for money spent on this machine is usually upgrading the HDD to an SSD.
