PO9-900 - CPU Temperature running around 40-50% - causing FAN speed to fluctuate and noisy!!

Hi All,

I have the above Predator standalone, I have noticed under just normal load (no gaming) for example just internet browsing/emails etc the temp of the CPU runs up to 50 degrees and more when I have a few internet browser windows open, this is causing the CPU FAN to run 2000-3000+ RPM which makes it very noisy!!

Also, on occasion the CPU hits 90+ degrees causing the system to shut down!! All under normal load.

Is there any way I can reduce the CPU Temp i.e. with reducing overclocking or any other settings etc? So that the FAN is more stable and quieter.

The FAN running noise level is up and down and getting louder...!! -:(

Any help guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hatul

Can you tell us what is the exact model? I bet there are quite a few PO9-900s out there that vary in different markets. Can you also list the main components? Thanks!

Have you checked that all fans (and possible water pump, if any) are running?

To me it sounds like the contact between the CPU and cooler is not good. Maybe the contact isn't tight enough, cooler/water block is not evenly tightened, poor application of thermal paste, or some combination of these things. Hard to say.

How old is the system? If it is a new one, I'd send it back and let Acer take a look at it. But before doing anything, give the forumites some time to offer their opinions.

Which fan profile are you using? The higher performance gaming modes will run the fans much harder than typical, even at idle.
