Hello! I’m having a problem with installing external microphone, the headphones plug into the microphone. I have verified it’s installed correctly, the input and output are both the microphone, so the playback is via the headphones. I disabled the speakers yet I still have an echo and if I press F9 that doesn’t work either, the microphone cuts in and out. I don’t know if it’s a laptop issue, mic or headphones

Open Control Panel. Search 'sound; Click 'change soundcard settings' in left pane. If internal speakers are disabled and headphones are enabled under playback then, then the echo is probably either physical feedback from headphone speakers themselves or electronic feedback in the microphone circuit. From your description, it sounds more like the microphone circuitry. What is the brand model number of the microphone?

Yeah, OK. Seems electronic. So open Control Panel again. Search 'sound' Click 'change soundcard settings' in left pane again. Click recording tab. Turn off or disable all electronic enhancements. Same with playback tab if enhancements are shown and enabled.

Thank you! I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. The microphone was the problem. I purchased a Yeti, just installed and it works beautifully.

Thanks. It was great. Hope your's was too. Did you try to turn off enhancements before you got the Yeti.
