Hello,

I have Acer Aspire 5, main specs:

  • Model: VX5-591G-75UK
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-7700HQ
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • GPU: Intel 630 & Nvidia GTX 1050

I upgraded my default M.2 (128GB) to Lexar® NM620 M.2 2280 NVMe SSD (Official Specs).

Then my laptop went crazy in all ways, including but not limited to:

  • GPU problems (black screen, white flashing screen, etc)
  • Internet (wifi + Ethernet) connection drops
  • Taskbar and start menu not working just after booting
  • File system error (-2147219200)

I have tried almost everything I know and found in search results, including:

  • Re-installing clean Windows (Win 10 22H2, 21H2 and 21H1).
  • Upgrading & downgrading/rollback drivers.
  • Tried all of official drivers from Acer, Windows Update and each component website (ex: Nvidia, Intel, Qualcomm Atheros, Realtek, etc) beside DDU and wushowhide.
  • Disabling some suspected drivers including integrated and dedicated GPUs.

Nothing solved the problem, I am even writing this post while laptop connected to external monitor as laptop screen is totally black.

I only upgraded to NVMe M.2 after searching and found multiple threads in this forum confirming it does support, even including Samsung 980 1TB M.2, So I wonder what is the problem or what Am I missing!

  1. Does Acer Aspire VX 15 (VX5-591G) supports NVMe?
  2. How many M.2 Slots does it has? One or two? As a just found some models has 2 slots, one Sata and one NVMe.
  3. Any suggestions are much appreciated as I am losing my mind!

Thanks.
