my laptop is a Acer Predator Helios 300 PH317-55-71YX and when my PC died the other day I wanted to see if i could possibly pick up where I left off and just connect my m.2 ssd to my laptop but I wasn't able to boot up and got the inaccessible boot device error, none of the fixes I found online worked for me or the situation differed from mine. how can i fix this bc i really wanna access my old drive nd retrieve some old files.

also, to add my old drive works perfectly of course and dnt wanna replace it but just use my old files and i tried startup repair nd several other things to no avail

First try to do a "Hard Reset" by taking out the main battery, bios battery and ram, leave them dissconected for 15min and reconnect all and see if your laptop boots. Also, which drive are you talking about, as its a bit confusing what you are trying to say as your PH317-55 has 2x M.2 drive ports and one should be your boot drive, and it also has provisions for an additional of either a 1x 2.5" HDD or a 1x 2.5" SSD.

If it's the M.2 boot drive that as you say "when my PC died the other day" and you've tried most of the guides for "No Boot Drive" then it's probably the actual M.2 drive fault (yes, M.2 drives circuitries get faulty, but its very unusual) so to make sure, try to put your so called faulty boot M.2 drive into the other and the 2nd M.2 slot of your laptop and try to boot the laptop and see if it boots up, if it doesn't and you have valuable data on this M.2 drive, put this drive aside and get another M.2 drive and reinstall windows onto the new drives and see if your laptop works with either drives.

As a "No Boot Drive" can have the following problems with your laptop so diagnose these also:

    1. Remove and connect back all hardware components - by completely powering off your laptop, remove all hardware devices, then put back just the ram first, then the M.2 drive and see if and when you put this M.2 boot drive in the laptop boots. This can help check whether the BIOS did not detect the system hard drive due to lose connection and led to "no bootable device" issue. If this does not work for your situation, proceed to the next method.
    2. Check boot order
    3. Reset primary partition as active
    4. Check internal hard disk status
    5. Fix boot information (BCD and MBR)
  • Try booting from the other ssd. What is the error when you try to access the folders?
