My microphone stopped working on my Acer Swift 3 SF314-42-R3U5. It's a refurb, but it works great otherwise and I've only had it for a year. These are the things I've tried already:
- Sound input/device properties/microphone test: "the highest value we saw was 0 percent"
- Additional device properties: unchecked enable audio enhancements
- Microphone privacy settings: access is on/allow apps is on/allow desktop apps is on
- Device manager/microphone array (amd audio device) status: enabled, working properly
- Troubleshooting/recording audio: couldn't identify problem
- Updated Realtek sound drivers
- Called Windows support (the rep did all of the above again)
- Looked at https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/comment/1135868#Comment_1135868 (notes: I'm afraid to uninstall the device from device manager in case it doesn't show up again, and I don't have an external mic to test)
- Reset PC (kept my files)
I just want to make sure I've tried everything I can do by myself before I'm forced to pay $130 to Acer's third-party support just to diagnose this problem. Is there some hotkey that I accidentally pressed that turned off the mic? Should I do another reset, this time deleting all apps and files? Any suggestions appreciated.
