Good evening, I would like your help ... a friend gave me an aod 257 netbook to run windows 10 and change the disk with an ssd. I change the disk everything is ok, I do a clean install of windows and now instead of 1024x600 it sees it as 1024x768 as a result of which I don't see the bottom bar or the menu options etc. I ran new drivers, installed the non-generic monitor, nothing. Even when I choose 1024x600 it still doesn't show me the bar. I also install linux mint and still the same. Is there a hardware jumper or something inside the laptop (which limits the resolution) and when I opened it it disappeared?

    >>>1024x600 it sees it as 1024x768>>>>>>Even when I choose 1024x600>>>>

Boot Win10. Right click blank space on desktop. Click display settings. Click dropdown for available resolution options. Please post screenshot or phone photo of result if possible.

with both bios the screen was fine. i opened the machine to change the memory and ssd and after that the problem appeared. this is why i think its hardware related. i cleaned the mobo with compressed air, double checked all the connections even downgraded the bios but still no luck the problem persists

Can you VGA output to an external monitor or TV set with a VGA input port?

OK. Good. With the charger & battery unplugged, try to reseat the LCD cable connector at the mainboard a half dozen or so times to help clean all the contacts.

You mean this yellow connector right?

Remove tape covers from two screen bezel screws and pry bezel off. You'll probably crack the bezel or break off plastic latches but no damage that scotch tape can't fix.

Pull sticky tape off screen connector and reseat that one too. If it still doesn't work, then it's likely that the LCD cable itself has conductor/wire breaks in the hinge area from wear and tear of opening/closing the lid too much. New video camera cable bundles less than about $20usd.

Try Google search 50.SFS07.004. Usually costs more by the ACER part no. than by simply searching "d257" "video cable".
