Could someone help me update Acer Spin 5 Firmware to version 1.10?

Every time I attempt to install the latest firmware on my device it fails using the restart and install approach. I tried downloading it directly from acer and it says "ESP disk space not enough" using the Insyde installation wizard utility thing. Disk management and the free utilities at my disposal are not allowing me to resize that partition.

I'm trying to help my aunt. Her screen is black and I've done many troubleshooting steps, seeing if the it's the battery, charger, backlight etc it really doesn't seem like it is. I've even taken it apart and checked all the connections. It hooks up to an external monitor just fine and the touch screen even works using the monitor. I'm thinking display/graphics driver and or firmware issue?

Any one else ever had this problem or better yet solved it?

Any thoughts or advice is very welcome and appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Regards,

DT

What is the exact Spin 5 model, it should be something like SP513-xx or similar?

A "Black screen" is not a bios issue or a graphics driver issue, as it could be an eDP cable/plug that is faulty or its plugs at the screen or mobo might be faulty, check those first, after, check this cables wires and plug pins at both ends, if they are not shorted, burned etc , as all this can contribute to power and data issue going to the screen or the actual screen (which is very uncommon) might have issues.

The bios flash error "ESP disk space not enough" that you are getting (also be careful with a bios flash, as you can brick this laptop if its done incorrectly) could be caused from either a bios file corruption during the download and can be resolved by downloading the bios file again. Or it could be that the boot HDD is full and needs resizing, which you can find many brands of software’s that have software's called Partition Master which resizes HDD's and its an easy way to resize a drive, or you can use the windows Disk Management – which is more complex (which you have tried) or the hardest is DiskPart Command Lines.

ESP disk space errors are usually due to either a missized EFI partition or a bad EFI image. Sometimes it is caused by having font files in the EFI partition taking up too much room. Mounting the partition and deleting those file can allow the update to proceed. Take a picture of Disk Management showing the layout of that drive for us to make sure it's setup right...
