Hi,

My PC performs worser than I bought it. It's the Acer Aspire A515-54 series with the i5 CPU and MX250 2GB GPU. I used to game with higher fps but when I play the same game I can't even play on lowest settings. I've done many re-installations of windows. I've also tried throttling and it is not helping. I've also cleaned it. I use NVIDIA settings on performance, have latest updates of GPU and Windows.

I've got no idea what is it? I need this laptop to give me it's best experience. Any ideas?

Make sure that as you said “I've done many re-installations of windows” you do a “Clean Install” which is the best way to reinstall an OS, also, make sure that you reformat the boot drive completely and start clean and then make sure that you have ready on another separate USB the “IRST (Intel® Rapid Storage Technology) Driver Version: 17.8.0.1065” (I would also update the bios to last version 1.24 to have this laptop up to date) after and you have completely formatted the boot drive, and then finished the windows installation process and updated windows to its latest updates, make sure that you also have the Nvidia MX250’s latest driver installed and also the GeForce Experience and use this software’s settings for the games that you play (as they are the best predetermined Nvidia settings) for these games) you don't need any overclocking and/or throttling etc etc, Also install and scan your OS with the “Intel® Driver & Support Assistant” to make sure that all Intel drivers are up to date. also, make sure that the TRIM cmd is enabled within windows for the SSD drives to perform at their best performance. Best is to keep your laptop at default settings and don’t change anything as that is where allot of users go wrong, especially with a laptop that is not a hard-core gaming laptop like the A515-54. Also, make sure that all fans, vents are clean and the gpu/cpu are repasted with a high-grade paste. All the above will achieve what you want, and you say, "I need this laptop to give me it's best experience".

Btw and this is just my opinion, so take it as you may? You should do a clean install of Win-11 on this laptop, as Win-11 has a new version 22H2 and this updated has streamlined the OS considerably and it will work better on your laptop, you don’t need special Win-11 drivers to run your A515-54 on this OS, as long as you use the above software and methods of updates, as it will work.

Repasting the cpu/gpu and cleaning the fans and vents does reinstate the cooling of your laptop to what it was when it was new (well if the fans are working 100%?) so check that out also, If you do this, then I suggest that you use a high grade paste like the Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Extreme as that is an excellent paste for laptops, don't use the liquid metal type pastes as they are conductive and not worth applying into a laptop for a 5c reduction in temps as and if its applied wrongly, then it will damage your laptops mobo beyond repair. Btw and imo, run Win-11 22H2 new version also.

Guys I think i found the solution of it .First go to the power options and go to the advanced power options and replace maximum processor state with 98 and minimum processor state with 98 also now you will see a huge difference and stable fps and for a much smooth gameplay lock your fps through Nvidia control panel .

and also If you noticed any stuttering after a few minutes after gameplay that means your gpu temp limit has been kept upto a certain limit so what you have to do is unlocked it to a certain limit. What can you do is

Download ASUS GPU TWEAK 2 OR 3 , I recommend to download ASUS GPU TWEAK 2 because it can be customized. Other wise both are good.so download it and install it and then add custom power plan in Asus Gpu tweak and then change your temp limit upto 75c ( its ok to change the temp limit upto 90c ) after that you will notice that you can play the game without any stutters and lags .

    • Remember to Run the Asus gpu tweak when you are running a game .
