My computer is under my desk and warm air rises and I feel discomfort from this).
Thanks for the video card voltage tip. Today I'll try to reduce the pressure.

thats an awesome looking cooler, and yeah i went with noctua NH-U12A because thats all anyone here raved and talked about i didnt even research other options lol, and yeah another suggestion would be to put 2 fans on the top rack as exhaust, it will help cool even more, and the only thing i can think of why your 3080 is so warm is the resolution you are running at for sure, and game settings of course, but you have it on the floor also on a RUG heh, never have them on the floor and on a rug, thats really bad for them, i had mine the same way and it was just pulling dust in like crazy. so i put mine up on my 4x12 guitar cabinet problem solved lol, and the cards in our pcs are sapphire-nvidia acer branded cards they told me when i called, whatever that means heh.

well, that's awesome we do all we can do, by passing on what we did and what worked or didn't heh, glad to be of service and help when possible, post some pics so we can see plz, here is my 5000 with multiple upgrades-enhancements i have done, removed hhd caddy and GPU bracket for better air flow, Noctua nh-u12a, 64 gigs ddr5 crucial, extra Frost blade fans up top, high velocity cooler master mobius fans on the cooler, cooler master bracket under GPU, and ya cant see it but a thermal right cpu correction bracket on the CPU so it doesn't warp, may replace the PSU and MB down the road.

    Nice setup!

How did you install the top fans in the case? Are the screw holes already there? What screws did you use?

yeah, thx buddy, appreciate it, yours as well I've seen pics looks amazing, and to install them on the top ya just open the glass side and remove it then pop that top cover off and put them in, i used recessed machine screws that required no washer, because that's what i had laying around lol, they were 1-1/4" long and just poked through the top enough to put a nut on so it was perfect, i know my cable management it terrible but i don't care lol, some wires are too short to go through the back, so i just leave them hanging there, it doesn't bother me and doesn't interfere in any way lol, ill include a couple of pics so you can see the screws and nuts up-close better, they are older pics but serve the purpose to see what ive done.

    Howdy all,

So I’ve got an Orion 5000 PO5-640, and I’m looking at purchasing the Noctua NH-U12A, however I noticed that on some of their guide videos you need to remove the MB, but on the posts above, people have said you don’t need to remove the MB, my question is how did you manage to fit the supplied backplate or install the cooler without the backplate being removed?

    Thanks,

all you need is 4-m3x10mm screws then use the intel supplied hardware.

it will then mount to the acer posts on the mb.

it's really simple and easy if you need any more help just ask.

i have had mine in over a year now and i love it.

    Morning,

Thanks so much for the info, I may need to borrow you haha for a little more information on how you fitted it if that’s alright? Assuming you used the standard backplate rather than the supplied, does it affect the spacing or ensuring the clearance is correct to the Chip? I’ve installed the fan on the top panel already, was just concerned using the original backplate it wouldn’t have the correct spacing? :)

    Cheers,

Awesome stuff, I was just concerned it was not going to fit properly and then cause issues further down the line. So would you mind just explaining what parts you used from the Noctua box and a little overview of which parts you used aside from the screws etc, as which spacers etc, and which holders.? I’m going to start on the installation tonight, so any help with the process would be great, otherwise it’ll be removing the MB 😬

    Cheers

just read the instructions and use the bags marked intel.

because it comes with intel and amd parts.

that's it. simple and easy and don't over tighten the m3x10mm screws or you will break off a post.

and the black brackets the cooler mounts to have 3 positions use the middle one on each.

and for paste i always recommend the 5-dot method described in the owner's manual.

no need to remove the mb that's a waste of time.

    That

That thing looks awesome! I’m looking into adding a tower cooler and/or fans up top like you did, so I got 3 questions for ya:

    1. How did you acquire extra FrostBlade fans? I can’t seem to find them anywhere on the webs Other than eBay
    2. Looks like you added an RGB fan to the cooler, did you swap out one of the cooler fans with one of those RGB frost blade fans? How hard is it to do that?
    3. For the 2 fans up top, how did you wire those? And do they play nice with PredatorSense?

I’m a noob at all this, so any help would be appreciated!

well i used the stock cooler fan and i lucked out and met someone here that sold me theirs after upgrading to the same Noctua NH-U12A cooler.

and yes, eBay is the only other place to get them from.

the ARGB fans on the cooler are cooler master high velocity mobius fans.

the Noctua cooler comes with a fan splitter, so those 2 fans go where the stock cooler plugged into.

i also used a cooler master ARGB 1-5 splitter since the MB only has 4 ARGB plugins and i had 7 ARGB fans so i used that and plugged them into the 4th slot for ARGB. it has the best effects of them all for lighting.

the tops fans are simple to attach i used inch and 1/4 length screws and they were a number 6 with matching nuts. to power the top 2 fans i used the dual number 3 power ports that are open and free, and they are tied into the front fans, so they get controlled by what you set the front fans to.

i have tried several programs nothing will control the lights and fan speed besides predator sense.

    Ah I govha, thanks man!

One more question. It’s looking like the 2 main coolers people are going with are the Noctua nh-u9s and the u12a. What’s the difference in performance between the two? On Amazon the u12a is twice the price of the u9s rn, so I’m trying to see why the u12a so much more expensive and if it’s worth going with over the u9s. I’ve done no mods to my computer (Orion 5000 PO5-650-UB11) but am seeing high CPU temps on certain games (sometimes hanging out in the mid 90s) even on full fans so I’m trying to see what I actually need for a cooling upgrade.

well, the u9s is mainly for the smaller 3000 cases, and its def better than the stock one in any pc…i just wanted the biggest and best for my 5000, that's why i chose the NH-U12A. and i wanted dual fans etc.

    i have the Orion 5000 PO5-640-UB11.

and your pc came with the 13700F right? it runs a lot warmer than my 12700F so yeah get the NH-U12A well worth it.

yes, it does come with the 13700F. I’m relieved to hear you say it normally runs warmer lol, I see people freaking out about temps over 80 and I’m over here like “well mine hits over 90 regularly sooo” 😂. So for my own curiosity, with the 13700F, according to Intel it’s fine at anything under 100C, which I’ve never seen it reach (I assume it throttles itself back at 99 so it technically doesn’t reach it). I suppose if, according to Intel, the CPU is fine as long as it’s under 100C, do I even need to do a CPU cooling upgrade at all, so long as I’m happy with its performance? Or if I continue to let it run as hot as it has (most games run in the mid 70s-mid 80s, some run in the mid 90s), do I risk damaging something?

well i guess it's your choice, i can't answer that. i wasn't taking any chances, i like mine to run cool, I'm getting 28-48C depending on if its winter or summer here. running them at or near 100C isn't good. I'm sure anyone would agree on that. Intel and Nvidia want to sell products ha-ha they don't care. and the colder you keep any part the better it will run and last longer. i have tested that out and its true.

I’m looking at installing a similarly sized 2 tower cooler (got my eye on the Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE), did you have any issues with the front fan interfering with the RAM sticks?

not with the Noctua that's why i told you to check the dimensions and then the product page it should tell you if it would or not and why are you going with that over the Noctua?
