Acer Nitro 5 disk 0 (C:) is full but disk 1 empty

Hi,

My computer is full and I get messages like I can't save files anymore, etc. There is nothing on my computer, I moved all my files to the cloud. I only have the apps I really need / don't know if deleting will damage my computer. The disk number 2 is completely empty, but I don't know if I can move things like apps etc on it manually.

How can I use all this empty space and fix my space issue?

I also have an external drive (Seagate), but I've been having trouble with it. Sometimes it doesn't show up when connected.

Thank you very much!

What is your Nitro 5 exact model number? As most of the new Nitro 5 models have provisions for 2x M.2 NVMe PCIe 3 x4 type drives and 1x 2.5" SATA III 6GB/s. In your DM caption above, it shows that the boot drive C:/ is an M.2 128GB SSD (which is a very low-capacity drive) and that has got 3% empty space left and your 2nd Disk 1 (is it a 2.5" or M.2 1TB drive?), what is it? Also, its best that a 2nd slave drive is formatted in GUID (GPT) format the same as the boot drive, as that is a better format, which shows above in DM that has100% free space, which means that you haven't used this drive at all, why? With the external 2.5" Seagate mechanical drive, the reason you get the "I also have an external drive (Seagate), but I've been having trouble with it. Sometimes it doesn't show up when connected" is because that 2.5" mechanical drive is faulty and, on its way out, so be very careful as all external drives should connect 100% every time you connect them to the USB ports, otherwise this drive will stop working all of a sudden, and you will lose whatever data you have on it, so be very of that as that happened to me on an external 1TB Toshiba USB mechanical drive and I needed to get my all my valuable data recovered.

There is no danger in "I only have the apps I really need / don't know if deleting will damage my computer" as and if you delete these apps or any other software and reinstall them onto the slave Disk 1 1TB drive will be 100% ok but, their functionality will depend on the 1TB specs of your Disk 1, is it an M.2 NVMe PCIe 3 x4 is it a SATA III 6GB/s SSD or mechanical drive? As all that is a big factor of how your apps, games and any software will work when you transfer them from your M.2 NVMe PCIe 3 x4 drive as that is the fastest drive in your laptop. The best for you to do (depends on the Nitro 5 that you have, if its an old model or a new model Nitro 5?) as if its a new Nitro 5, I would buy a new M.2 SSD boot drive and clone your old boot Nitro 5 128GB PCIe 3 x4 interface to a Samsung 1TB 970 PRO NVMe M.2 SSD or a 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 SSD M.2 drive, and if you have an older Nitro 5 model, then I would upgrade to a Samsung 1TB 970 EVO NVMe M.2 SSD.

As an example, and btw, the setup below works 100% and without any problems. I've included a caption of my DM and how my Nitro 5 AN515-56 (that has provisions for 2x M.2 PCIe 3 x4 drives and 1x 2.5" SATA III drive) as its setup with a 1x M.2 NVMe PCIe 3 x4 512GB Disk 0 boot drive and a Disk 1 external 2.5" slave Seagate Barracuda mechanical drive (both of these drives are formatted in GUID (GPT) format) note, that using a mechanical drive is only really good for backups of valuable data and personal files and not for gaming/editing etc where you need speed. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
