Hi there, I'm thinking about getting the PO7-640-UR11 i7-12700K RTX 3080 w. 32 gb of RAM, I'm just wondering what are the parts that I'll be able to update (e.g. will i be able to upgrade the cpu, gpu, ram etc., and what parts are compatible)

Thanks :)

The PO7-640-UR11 i7-12700K RTX 3080 w. 32 gb of RAM is a fine gaming desktop and it can also be purchased with not only the i7-12700K but with the i9-12900K and if the GeForce® RTX™ 3080 is not enough performance for you? Then you can upgrade that to a better gpu like the RTX 3090 Ti and the RAM to a max Acer recommended of 4x 16GB total 64 GB at DDR5-4400MHz or look at the Crucial Scan PO7-640 as that suggests 2x 32GB at DDR5-4800Mhz, then you can put NVMe PCIe 4 x4. better cpu cooling from Noctua, add a better gpu cooling solution from Arctic Accelero Xtreme IV, Corsair Hydro X Upgrades and better case fans, all this depend on how much you want to spend?

As spending all these extra upgrades as I've suggested above on a PO7-640 i7 cpu, RTX-3080, you would be much better off building a top gaming desktop from scratch as it will cost you the same or a bit more and you will have a much better spec gamin g desktop.

Thank you so much :). Definitely not in a hurry to upgrade anything anytime soon (if at all), I just wanted to know my options before a big purchase like this.

Yeah, you are already close enough to the top end I wouldn't be looking at making many changes any time soon. Typically the first upgrade is to the cooling with something like the Noctua, next would be bumping the memory up if you start running into limits (not likely for gaming, but if you are doing video editing it might be worthwhile) and then a 4000 series GPU once they start shipping.

those guys are correct other than memory no upgrades should be needed ....and hopefully acer will include a dual fan-cooler in future models ....that's the main complain i see or hear about... that's getting replaced by users ....that buy the 5000 or 7000 series ...i even suggested it to a level 2 tech.... i have been working with on my pc when i had problems...i said watch the professional reviews and hear what they say...it's definitely interesting and the only thing they say acer overlooked...and on the 5000 series i hear people are replacing the cooler with noctua... im not sure how much better it can do compared to whats in it already ...until i decide to add one myself... if i do ever...not sure if it's worth it when the hottest mine ever gets is 60 C on Days Gone - PO5-640-UB11 with fans in gaming mode of course

Thanks, gaming mode is loud right. I saw your post about ram. Do you suggest quad or dual?

well im using all 4 slots because i bought 4x16 not 2x32.... i dont think it matters....i dont have 2x32 to try tho...and im not worried about it ....and well gaming mode is loud... but it keeps the temps down lol...im sure all pcs are loud when it gaming mode...and crucial only has one kind of ddr 5 for desktops so you dont have to do the system scan but it gives you a 15 % discount when you do run it and buy through them...and when i bought mine they were cheaper than amazon for the same exact product...so let me know what ya do and how it works for you

Don't worry about quad channel memory, that feature is typically only supported in the highest end workstation chipsets. Your system support dual channel memory so you should install your memory in pairs. The memory itself is the same, it's only different when you have memory installed differently. A single stick will run in single channel mode, two matching sticks will run in dual channel mode, four sticks will have two dual channel pairs, as long as the pairs match each other.
