Can you please explain a bit more precisely what you mean by slow. Is it booting the computer or computationally intensive applications, high load on the graphics card due to games?

  • Do you need to inform the exact model? Example AN515-55-58VH.

Increasing the memory bandwidth will speed things up, check the processor max power state (advanced Power options) both on battery and when connected to the power adapter, if the maximum is set to 70% that will slow down your laptop a lot.

Drivers that are loaded and have issues (not compatible/corrupted) is another reason for a slow system, loading too many services that are not used also needs checking. Did you activate non-standard Windows programs that can be uninstalled?

Temp files, Caches loaded with old data, Old DOS and redundant (remnant) old programs need to be purged: Run Storage Sense in W10 or W11, click on Temp files and you may find TBs of old Windows Update files that you can delete safely. Run "Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth" (without the quotes) and when completed type "SFC /scannow" in the Elevated Command Prompt (the Command prompt app run as Administrator by right clicking your mouse) afterwards.

Defrag your c:/drive (Optimize) and check Device Manager if you see Unknown Devices or Yellow Triangle with an exclamation mark!

Have you updated your OS (Windows 10-11) every 2nd Tuesday of the month (Patch Tuesday)?

Finally check the Event Viewer for errors and also check the Info in Event Viewer there maybe a hardware problem:

And that is just the beginning, many more issues can cause a slow system nothing to do with the OS or will go away when resetting your system.
