I have nitro 5 AN 515-54 laptop

processor i7 9th gen 9750H

rtx 2060 6gb

i just have gta v and rocket league game

it badly overheats while i game more than 30 minutes. Someone told me to reapply thermal paste and pads. I tried it. Arctic silver 5 thermal paste. Still it overheats. Someone suggested me to remove thermal pads from cores and controllers and use thermal paste instead.

I wanted to ask is it safe and ok to do that?

I also did undervolting my cpu. Temps goes in 93C. Any tips for fixing overheating as well

  • Be very very careful with any conductive cpu/gpu thermal pastes like the Arctic silver 5!

DO NOT USE the Arctic silver 5 like "Someone suggested me to remove thermal pads from cores and controllers and use thermal paste instead" as this paste liquefies and will spread onto the motherboards circuitries and will shot circuit surrounding components on your motherboard and WILL damaging your motherboard beyond repair! Also think about upgrading ram, M.2 drive and all NVidia and Windows drivers to the latest as that has allot to do with a laptop performing at its best.

Also download the RTX Experience NVidia software as that will have all the best and most appropriate settings for the games that you play, or you can get allot of guides to the games that you play on the web also. As and if you have undervolted and repasted this laptop and cleaned its fans and vents and it still overheats, then you need to also increase the ventilation to this laptops case by either making a high-end tablet cooler or buying one, as there is no magic pill that will fix/reduce temps on a laptop like yours. So try all the above suggestions as the combination of those will reduce temps on your AN515-54.

@Steven thank you for your reply and suggestion. I did upgrade tis laptop brother. 32 gb gaming corsair ram. 1tb hdd second storage + extra 1tb m.2 ssd storage. I don't think any other upgrade is needed for that right.
