I have a new, less than three months, Aspire A515-56 laptop. I closed the lid a few nights ago, putting it in Sleep Mode, and placed it on my wooden desk. The next morning it would not "wake up". Pressing the power button, ESC key, holding the power button down, nothing happened. With the power cord plugged in the Blue LED next to the "Battery charging) symbol on the right side was glowing steady, but no other indicator lights were on. I picked the laptop up and the bottom near the air vent was very hot. I unplugged the charger cord and closed the lid. several hours later it was still hot and the computer was unresponsive whether it ws plugged in or not. I closed the lid and placed it back on the desk upside down. After leaving it that way overnight it had cooled off. Since then I have not experienced any problems.

Something was very wrong , but I do not know how to determine what. Do I need to return it under warranty?

Probably not. Open Control Panel. Search 'button' Click 'change what the power buttons do' in left pane. Click 'change settings that are currently unavailable' in the next pane. Scroll down and uncheck the box for fast startup. Also change all the settings on battery and plugged in to sleep mode. Save settings. Then shutdown Windows normally. Turn it back on again.

I am trying this. I have not had an incident in past week.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that it'll be fine from now on. 🙂

Hi, had the exact same issue with my only 3 week old Aspire A515-56. I applied the settings noted above.

Any further confirmation of this working?

    And why would this work?

    Fast startup is notoriously buggy.
