I've been trying to enable ADB debugging (to allow installing an APK) but I just can't get the switch to remain toggled!
After switching it to 'on', the Chromebook reboots but then, when I check it, it's turned off again!
Anyone any ideas, please?

Can you now access the Linux terminal command prompt after re-booting?
Thanks for replying! Somehow, and I'm not exactly sure what did it, after multiple attempts/reboots it suddenly came up with a message on reboot and I found it was enabled! (Without developer mode)
I was following instructions here: https://www.howtogeek.com/752759/how-to-sideload-apks-on-a-chromebook-without-developer-mode/
I'm not sure if there was an error in that because in one instruction it mentioned using '100.155.92.2:5555'
but in the following line it showed '100.115.92.2:5555', so maybe I corrected something by accident!
Thanks, anyway!

Congratulations. Probably not an accident. Seems more like magic. Thanks for reporting back. 🙂
