I initially was having intermittent charging problems while plugged in (orange light not on, icon in task tray showing battery operation, not plugged in). I've replaced my charging cord as well as my battery on my computer and still have the same problem, it appears as though the port on my computer is too big but I can't access it with the cover off to try to form it. Can I replace or repair this port?

  • The DC-in jack port of your Aspire A515-53 is on the left side of your laptop and its part of the motherboard (see caption below) and if this port is damaged you can fix it most of the time but, most of the time you will not, you need a fine needle like tool to bend its internal outside negative pins to make the charger male plug connect tightly and securely into this port to make 100% connection. This is a very fiddly job and most of the time it will not work but you can try it, see jack port caption below but I don't guarantee that you will be able to fix this as you need a microscope as its tiny to see any detail as and if you don't have a microscope (which a technician has) you will do more damage than fix anything.

Best is to take your laptop to a technician that can replace this DC-in jack port as a tech can also diagnose other problems that you might have internally like mosat, resistor, filter etc that could be wrong and not the DC-in jack. within the charging circuits of your laptop as it might not be the DC-in jack port. Acer does not list a DC-in jack port for the Aspire A515-53 service guide it only lists a replaceable USB BOARD that is on the right side of your laptop that is a board that comes with 1x USB and 1x headphone/Microphone jack replacement part # 55.HGLN7.001.
