How to upgrade my RAM on my Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G Laptop

I have recently opened and checked my RAM slot after 4.5 years of using my laptop and I was shocked that it has only one slot and it has a 4GB RAM inside it. Now my laptop has 8GB RAM, so where is the other 4GB of RAM? is it inbuilt in the motherboard? Do I have to throw away this 4GB RAM after I replace it with another 8GB RAM or so? But technically CPUZ says I have one slot and it has a 8GB RAM plugged into it, I tried to start my laptop while the RAM is disconnected, it did not start. If the motherboard had 4GB RAM inbuilt then it would have (should have) start right? Please help I am so confused.

@Shivkmal installing the 8GB won't have any problem.

@Shivkmal your model should have 4GB soldered on the motherboard. After taking 4GB stick out. You must close the RAM door again and wait about 5-10 secs longer than usual after powering on for the BIOS to check the new memory size.

@AnhEZ28  Thank you very much for the information. It was needed for me to consider RAM change,. 12 GB RAM won't be any problem right?
