Acer Nitro QG1 HDMI 2.0

I have an Acer Nitro QG1 - model number QG241Y Sbmiipx

All of the marketing material for this monitor says that it 1 HDMI 1.4 port and 1 HDMI 2.0 port

However the monitor itself identifies both ports as HDMI 1.4 and the manual does not specifically say which port is 2.0.

I am using a 2.0 cable, and have tested it on another monitor.

Is there something I am doing wrong?

Thanks!

Sorry about the marketing material you're seeing. It's wrong. The monitor is identifying itself correctly. HDMI #1 port & HDMI #2 port are both HDMI version 1.4 flavored, not HDMI version 2.x.

Put simply your Nitro QG241Y Sbmiipx monitor has a Maximum Resolution: Full HD) 1920 x 1080@165 Hz at Ports & Connectors: HDMI® versions 1.4 or 2.0 (at both monitors HDMI 1 & 2 ports, see below) and 1x DisplayPort(v1.2) and Headphone ports. As a whole, HDMI 2.0 does not necessarily require a new HDMI cable. A regular HDMI cable will still support 4k at 60Hz. If you want 8k or 4k at 120Hz then you will need a high-speed HDMI cable. Both HDMI 1.4 and 2.0 can deliver 4K video, but HDMI 2.0 can transfer up to 18Gbps whereas HDMI 1.4 can only transfer up to 10.2Gbps. That extra bandwidth allows HDMI 2.0 to deliver a few extras that might have seemed unnecessary just a few years ago. But for current content consumers — especially A/V enthusiasts — those extra goodies are seen as essential.

Also read this Will I need a new cable for HDMI 2.0? as it explains it perfectly and this is just a short caption, as you don't need a separate port or cable for HDMI 2.0. Also read the official HDMI site on the NEW HDMI® HDMI 2.1a Specification that is the most recent update of the HDMI® specs and supports a range of higher video resolutions and refresh rates including 8K60 and 4K120, and resolutions of up to 10K. Dynamic HDR formats are also supported, and bandwidth capability is increased up to 48Gbps.

With the HDMI 2.1 or 2.1a specs, the below type cables are the only cables that are compatible.
