My Aspire 5 (a515-56-50RS) came with a 250GB SSD. I want to upgrade to a Crucial 500 GB P3 Plus M.s 2280. Can I use the additional SSD in tandem with the original 250GB SSD, or can you only use one SSD at a time? If, in tandem, can the upgraded/added SSD be assigned to storage and the original 250GB SSD to start-up? Thanks.

You can't add another m.2 SSD. But you can add a 2.5" SSD and still keep the 256GB NVME as the fast boot drive. Right now both 2.5" Western Digital Blue series SSDs and 2.5" Crucial MX500 drives up to 2TB would be perfect for your machine as D : \ storage drive with the same 256 NVME C : \ boot drive you have in there now..
